Communicating your brand to your VA or support tea Communicating your brand to your VA or support team... this is often a stumbling block for many business owners that results in underwhelming outcomes from your helpers.

There are many reasons that you aren't getting the results you want from your help some common ones are because:
.
a) you don't know exactly what you want to communicate
b) you've not set up your brand foundations before creating the visuals of brand (or even worse you are having your help create your brand without this in place)
c) your brand isn't documented in one place - it's often a hodgepodge of different ideas saved in a multitude of places.

So, how do you help yourself to brief your helpers and give them the best possible start so you can get the outcomes that you desire?

The first step is knowing who you are. I always include a discovery process at the start of a branding project to help you understand who you are in the context of your life, business and those you serve. This ensures you create something that is an extension of you, not something separate AND something that welcomes your audience as you'd want them to be greeted because you consider your desires, strengths and so on, which can then inform your business model and a whole plethora of other things.

Some questions to ponder:
✨ What do you stand for AND against?
✨ What are your Values? (your values will influence many of your decisions. Example: if one of your values is sustainability, how will you use this filter throughout your business? Will you consider a sustainable print merchant for printing, will you donate to a cause etc)
✨ Who do want to be?
✨ How do you show up AND how is this different to the person you want to be?

Lauren and I connected initially for a design day Lauren and I connected initially for a design day to support Lauren with tidying up some designs in her Canva account.

We soon realised that it was actually time for Lauren to uplevel her branding to support the next stage of her business.
.
She had outgrown many aspects of her visual brand and was a little lost with how to add in her new modality with her current brand. 
.
Lauren wanted to have a more 'grown up' brand, clearer identity as a personal brand, more clarity on how to put together graphics, have a really smart and professional looking brand that illuminates my values and qualities and attracts amazing clients my way. Something that makes sense to customers when they see my pricing.
.
Through my proven process we uncovered a theme of 'pause' and 'flow' throughout conversations and workbooks. This theme, combined with the values of safe expression, presence, curiosity, power with and devotion became the basis of Lauren's new brand identity and the anchor point for her services, content and business decisions moving forward.
.
Much of a brand's success is intangible as its success is how it connects to its audience. The Brand Roadmap that was created during the branding process gives Lauren a tangible document to refer to again and again for inspiration and ideas that are aligned and onbrand.

This was a wonderful journey to create a visual identity that reflected Imrama's values of integrity, honesty, humility, peace and purpose. 
 
Through a deeper exploration, we developed a summary of the brand essence of Imrama Life Activation which is detailed below.

BACKGROUND - Brand Essence
Imrama Life Activation is a landing place for women to find a sustained balance in their health and well-being so that they can be the creator of their own lives. Living each day by design rather than
living unconsciously and letting the world determine her actions.

Backed by Lisa’s knowledge in the health field, clients are guided on a journey of self-discovery through 1:1 sessions and group programs bringing a holistic approach and easy-to-apply tools and processes so that you can make choices in life that bring you joy.

Imrama Life Activation is here to help women live by their own design, she is caring, kind, genuine, loving and supportive. The natural world is her anchor and grounding to ensure she is balanced, inspiring and encouraging for her community. She is powerful in her presence with a soft edge. Brave, elegant and loving is how others describe her.
Imrama Life Activation connects you with your soul wisdom to live a life, loving who you are, eliminating limiting beliefs and releasing the limitations and emotions holding you back from feeling fulfilled. Most importantly we do this by bringing some fun back into your life.

Life really isn’t meant to be as serious
as we have made it.

Summarising the brand essence helps us to identify the key themes and symbology that help to form the visual expression of the brand - through colours, associated images, design elements, even the typefaces we choose. They all form the story of the brand.

There are many ways we can communicate our values There are many ways we can communicate our values and essence of our business through our branding. 

Much of the communication is done symbolically and on a subconscious level. Colours, fonts, shapes, images, client experience all play a role in communicating a feeling or emotion that connects your brand to your audience. 

Creating an intentional brand that is integral to your  values and your impact within your community will ensure your brand is aligned and relevant.

How do you make the intangible, tangible in brandi How do you make the intangible, tangible in branding? My role as a brand designer is to help clients to translate their brand strategy and ideas into something tangbile such as their visual brand. Something that is seen. 

But, for me to be able to do this, some discovery is required on finding and connecting to these intangible ideas and concepts. 

Let's look at our values for instance. Values are often felt and sensed. If we take the value of connection. How can this one word inspire your brand identity and business decisions?

First, define what connection means to YOU
↓
Then think about the feelings, sensations and events that remind you of YOUR definition of connection.
↓
Look at how you can apply the above to your actions and service around your business
↓
With the information so far, If connection were a colour or set of colours what would they be?
↓
When you think of connection, what images come to mind?
↓
Symbology - Some shapes and symbols have a universal meaning, while others are specific to our experience or culture. Think of some symbols that could visually represent the word connection for you.
↓
Font & Typefaces - These when used in combination with your words and imagery can be used to support your message. Eg If you made handmade jewellery, you might want to consider using a clear handwritten font to help your audience subconsciously align the handwritten font with the idea of your products being handmade.

You can create a brand identity based off one value! BUT when combined with other values, brand statements and strategic planning it makes for a brand that has depth and longevity.
